My husband booked on line and we were allocated seats in the front row of the gold section. If you like noise and being sprayed with a little dust then these seats are the best in the house. Great racing over the two nights we went. There are lots of food options and the prices were pretty good. We will attend another event here. Date of experience: February Helpful Share. All these activities and so much more have been shared via our new website and on our Facebook page. I trust parents find these forums positive and affirming as we share photos and stories of the life of the school. Now it is time to pause and rejuvenate.

I wish all our families a restful and enjoyable time during these School holidays. I look forward to seeing everyone back next term, refreshed and ready to go. As Term 1 of the school year draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to wish parents, students and the staff a restful and well-earned break. Come back with a renewed vigor to tackle what will be a very demanding and Term 2. My sincere thanks to the community of Peter Carnley Anglican Community School for the contributions you make to build a positive and rich place to be.
From the start to the end of our lives, we are all learners, and the early years of life are the most important as foundations for the future are developed and strengthened. When we begin moving down the path that will take us through the Junior School years, the teenage years and ultimately into adulthood, we continue to draw on and cultivate our internal scaffolding in order to meet the demands of complex everyday challenges.
Children are born ready to learn about the fascinating world around them; we observe the incredible leaps in the skills, knowledge and understandings that happen in the first twelve years of life.
Is it okay to try something - and fail sometimes? All children need people or at least one person who believe in them, care for them, and want to support them as learners, not least because the most powerful learning tool for children comes through copying others around them.
This being the case, it is especially important that they spend time with adults:. Children need to be actively involved in meaningful experiences. Going to the supermarket, working in the garden, cooking with an adult, helping to wash the car, cleaning the house, as well as having fun at the park or the beach. Having books to look at and read, stories to listen to, and people to have conversations with are vital; these provide a strong framework for the development of wide vocabulary and literacy skills — the stuff of successful social and emotional communication. Above all, children need encouragement; they do not need to be the recipients of fast-paced pressure.
Competition might have a place, of course, but it should never be an end in itself. Learning happens naturally when caring adults work side by side with children, nurture fruitful relationships, and explore the world together in ways that are interesting and fun. Thank you to all our parents and teachers who patiently provide such vibrant, creative and positive home and school environments for our children. This is the first day of Term 2 and as is tradition at the School, all students who are part of a service or cadet unit, Scouts, Cubs, Girl Guides etc are able to wear their service uniform to School on the day.

Parents are also invited to attend our service which will be held in the Keith Lindbeck Centre. Well here we are already at the end of first term! The year is certainly flying by. Next term the fun gets started almost straight away with Mothers' Day festivities commencing in Week 2. This year we are very excited to announce the return of the popular Mothers' Day stall. The stall will be open before school only and students will have an opportunity to choose from a range of many lovely items to gift mum or grandma. The stall will also run at Calista campus outside the auditorium on Tuesday 8 May and Thursday 10 May.
We will have both cash and card facilities available. We will also continue to run the Mothers' Day breakfast this year where families can come and enjoy a delicious breakfast before school. Parents can enjoy a selection of yummy breakfast items such as ham and cheese croissants, scones with jam and cream, selected danishes, mini cupcakes, quiches, and fruit.

The Scholastic Book Fair is a great way to promote literacy and at the same time raise funds for the Calista School library to purchase new resources.
On Wednesday 23 May, all Junior School students at the Calista Campus will be given the opportunity to come to the Book Fair with their class to write up their wish list. Parents and students will have the opportunity to purchase from the Book Fair before or after school from the Wednesday afternoon.
For the Scholastic Book Fair to be a success it requires volunteers. We need volunteers to assist the students with the writing of their wish lists on the Wednesday morning and also to assist with sales. Our diversity makes Australia a great place to live. Harmony Week is a celebration of our cultural diversity — a week of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. The aim is to engage people to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious diversity and foster sense of belonging for everyone. On Tuesday 20 March all the students and staff at Calista Early Learning Campus dressed up in their National Costume to celebrate the diversity of our students.
