The Web site had said Video player, and we were told no different a couple of days before the trip when we verified things. The caretaker knew nothing and contacted booking person and she knew nothing either. Also so many little things should have been done before money spent on DVD player. The Games room was great tand the kdis thought it great, but a TV inside the house would have been good too. The house had so much potential and we had a great time, but didn't feel we really got what we paid for.
One restaurant we went to which was the Avalon, was suppose to be posh, but was actuallya very strange place. Everything old and shabby, even the waitresses were shabby. IT used to be a picture theatre and besides there being no seats and now having dining tables and chairs, plus a lot of other old junk, nothing had changed and you could tell what it had been. They had also used plastic collanders strainers for light shades and lamp shades which was really strange especially for a posh place.
The Childrens menu was not at all child friendly, one of my children had nothing as there was nothing she would eat and she isnt really that fussy the other I order veal snitzel for her as she is only 4, but it came with a salad containing fancy lettuces, that children would not like or eat. This child did not eat it, and she normally eats anything classified as food. The people of Katoomba were very strange, there was a man up the street fromt he house sitting naked on his letter box, another doing ballet bends at the cigarette counter of Coles, another taking his Vaccum Cleaner hose for a walk, and so many more stories I could tell of the weird people in Katoomba.
In Lithgow they call the Katoomba residents 'Feral' and at a Chemist in Penrith I had told the lady we were holidaying in the Blue Mountains but not where specifically. The Lucas Cave has the Cathedral Chamber, due to it being wide and high it has famous acoustics. You may be deciding whether to go to the Blue Mountains for the day to see the Three Sisters or the Jenolan Caves, well you can do both in a day.
Suspended metres above ravines, you get to see the rainforest canopy through the glass floor! If you are not good with heights, then you need to get into a carriage with seating and a floor! The views on this metre ride are degrees and you are able to see the Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls, and have a great view of Jamison Valley. You can get off at a stop and follow the trails to Echo Point to see the Three Sisters up close. This is an elevated walkway designed for minimal impact on the environment.
You will be in Jurassic rainforest on the floor of Jamison Valley. This will be one time when you want it to rain as the rainforest transforms itself. The colour changes, mist covers the cliffs above, the birds sing, so wish for a little rain when you are there! If it does rain I guarantee you will be able to take so many wonderful photos with raindrops on leaves. Be sure to find one with a reflection in it, it will be a prize winning shot! It will take you into the Jamison Valley. You may disembark at the bottom station where you can access the Scenic Skyway.
What a thrill you have waiting for you, a 52 degree incline is the steepest in the world. What a perfect place to have it. It recently has had an upgrade so if you want more of an adventure choose the carriage which will give you a 64 degree incline. It descends metres to the floor of the Jamison Valley and then you can stroll 2. There are shorter walks available.
The Carrington Hotel
Another option for your return is to hike back from the top of the train ride to Katoomba. It takes approximately 20 minutes walk or there is a bus which runs frequently. Although warmer in summer the Blue Mountains is normally a bit cooler than Sydney. This is the true walking season at the Blue Mountains, the days are cooler and the rain is easing. This is the peak tourist season, expect cool days and cold nights and lots of activities and events.

The Grose Valley is another spectacular area.

It has been formed by the Grose River. You will find dramatic gorge and canyon landscapes here and fantastic bush walking opportunities. Evans Lookout is just near Blackheath. You will have breathtaking views of Grose Valley. There are walks and lots of opportunities for bird watching near Govetts Leap. You will actually be able to see Govetts Creek in the valley floor.
