People are happy in Mount Waverley and seem to settle in for the long-term. It doesn't have the charm or excitement of so many other Melbourne suburbs, but it's convenient, quiet, open, spacious, safe I've never been broken in last 14 years; unlike Albert Park where we had regular break-ins! Anita Choy.

Anita Sales consultant. The bad, if you're asian, there's plenty of old people here with the same mindset as Pauline Hanson.

I think people who have lived here for 30 years are definitely struggling with their 'new neighbours' but that's because they're resistant to change. I feel at the moment we are going through a lot of change in Mount Waverley which will settle soon as everyone gets to know each other. And, yes the parking at the station is terrible on the Miller Crescent side. Some days I have to park and walk 10 minutes! MW has great schools - you don't even need to go private.

Childcare, primary, secondary and unis are all so close by - walking distance from where I live so I have sold my second car. Due to the infrastructure and schools, demand is always high so capital growth is good. It is a favourite for those parents who are keen on good education for their kids. You can go from P and have a great education without forking out heaps on private schools, too. Work - there are a bunch of companies quite close by so your commute could be really short if you work there. Block sizes are large great for kids though the houses are a bit old and could do with renovation.

That said, the construction materials they used before like steel windows, terracotta tiles, and so on are rustic, but good. Aim to get one on a flat section, if you can, with a northerly aspect. Affordable housing for young families with adequate schools, health services, churches and parks. It has remained that over the years. The trees that all home owners were encouraged to build have grown and given the suburb its green and softned appearance.

When we bought in Mt Waverley in the early 90's we were attracted to the quiet, green leafy streets but also the good schools and amenities. The blandness of a 60's house offered scope to extend or renovate along with a good sized block. Mount Waverley wasn't and still isn't within most first home buyers scope. Best things about Mt Waverley Local shopping village with grocery options covered Good public transport- train and buses Good schools- however bulging at the seams! Local parks and reserves Worst things A bit boring- but good eating options in Glen Waverley Less greenery with clearing of blocks and montrous "Yukka Mc Units " appearing Expensive to buy for the new families that this suburb suits the most.

Pros Local shopping village with plenty of parking Good public transport Good schools, parks and council amentities 18km is not far. Public transport is covered by Mt Waverley and Syndal tran stations, shopping by the Glen, Forest Hill or Chadstone shopping centers, and Schools by the myriad of high schools and primary schools in the area. The area is very quiet being a fairly old suburb with many retirees.
