The Crystal Brook Library will operate under its normal opening hours 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm Monday to Friday. Signage at each playground and skate park will be amended to reflect this change.
The Centre will be open Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm daily. These RV Parks will remain open until either the State Government directs otherwise or it is assessed by Council that due to changing circumstances other action is necessary. This decision was made for health and safety reasons due to the COVID 19 situation as we try to minimise potential spread of the virus through cash handling. Our friendly staff are also ensuring public safety is protected by regularly cleaning the EFTPOS machine and other contact surfaces as well as providing hand sanitiser for customers to use. Port Pirie is looking great and there is a lot to do. Visit the RSL Museum, it is worth a visit. Great exhibits and see the great helicopter from Vietnam. The volunteers are full of information and love to help you enjoy the visit. The old railway station is worth a visit as well, again lots to see and the great white shark that was caught in the area.
We ate in the motel, The Flinders Range Motel, and the Sportsman Tavern which are both just nearby and the Primo restaurant and enjoyed all our meals. It was our first visit to Port Pirie and just a 1 night stopover to break the trip down to Adelaide from Wilpena Pound. We did a short tour around town and used the excellent car wash as our vehicle was very dirty from driving thru gravel muddy roads in the Flinders Ranges. The restaurant in the Hotel over the road from the Comfort Inn was also excellent and very reasonably priced. Port Pirie looked nice and worthy of another visit some time.
Try not to go to Port Pirie on extremely Hot Days Good place to visit whilst travelling, lots of pubs to choose from, close to Flinders ranges that have lots of little towns to look at. Access to toilet facilities was important for medical reasons and they were available everywhere. Would have liked other tenants to be open, but hey they deserve a day off! Drove around the wharf and the gardens are beautiful with lots of families picnicing. Great atmosphere. I didn't really have any expectations. I went for an event. I loved it. The water front area was unexpected and I loved seeing the priorities of the town through the community building.
There were so many sports and community venues I was in awe. The schools looked great and a large TAFE. Nice sports tavern across from the hotel with specie outdoor area. I would have liked to have more free time and research what we should have seen. It was also an interesting ride up with lovely views of the commencement of the Flinders Rangers.
